Make Money Online Working Home

Can Anyone Make Money Online Working From Home?

Of course. Many thousands of people do. You might have friends or family members who make a living with a home-based Internet business already.

The problem is that not everyone WILL make money online, because making money on the internet takes a long time to learn, and most people give up because it can be extremely frustrating.

With over 300,000 “Internet Home Business” related searches on the internet every month, it’s safe to say that there is a lot of demand for information on how to make money on the internet. Sadly, this also means that there are a lot of shady characters preying on this group of people.

I knew someone who fell for one of these scams once – they taught him how to make money online, and then all he did was sell seminars – on how to make money online. The fact that he had never actually made any money online was beside the point… I guess. Not surprisingly, I’m not a big supporter of his business.

When Can You Quit Your Day Job to Work Online From Home?

Perhaps the most important piece of advice for starting an internet home business is this: Don’t expect to replace your day job’s income for 365 days (or so!). Although I will add that service-based businesses tend to bring in revenue faster, I would still allow for a full year to replace your outside-the-home salary.
The Good News About the Home Based Business Industry

As long as you are willing to put in the hours (days… weeks…. months….. ) to learn the ropes, you can bootstrap your business with extremely little money, generally speaking.

Remember that some businesses take more to start than others. I’ve probably directly invested less than $3000 getting this blog up and running, and now revenue is increasing at about a 125-140% pace every month after being in business for 16 months.

So, where do you start from here? Here are some general rules of thumb.

Internet-Based Business: Startup Rules

1. You do NOT need to be an expert in SEO (search engine optimization), social media marketing, website marketing, traditional marketing or sales in order to get started. However, you DO need a professional website.
2. Pre-packaged programs only work as much as you can customize it and make it unique and your own. Even then, techniques that work for one niche won’t work in all niches.
3. Be wary of any “system” that promises instant results (especially anything that sounds like a get-rich-quick scheme!)
4. Every business is made stronger by specializing in a tight niche. Know your audience and stick to it.

Unless you have a brilliant tech idea that makes venture capitalists drool (which means you don’t need this list), you need to determine where your strengths are and which business model you plan on following. I have run three home-based businesses in my life, all of which leveraged my current skill set as the foundation for building the business.

Look over the following list and single out the ones in which you have at least some experience. You probably won’t have all of the skills necessary, so don’t let that stop you! All you have to do is work hard and be willing to learn.

Start a Gift Basket Busines

Start a Gift Basket Business
Can You Really Make Money Starting Your Own Gift Basket Business? You can, but it’s gotten more competitive and the internet makes it tougher — even if you’re local.

However, this creative business idea will allow you to start a gift basket business and be a part of your customer’s meaningful, special occasions.

The gift basket industry can be the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys creating the “perfect gift,” working with people and putting smiles on people’s faces. Based on past statistics, this is a $2.8 billion industry and has been termed a very fun business because it allows you, the creator, to find lots of cute and clever gifts and put them all together.

When you’re the one creating the gift basket, you get to enjoy the excitement and joy on the recipient’s face, which gives you a great feeling of pride.

The catch to having a successful gift basket business is also offering something in the basket other than what everyone else is selling.

For instance, have you ever looked at pajamagram.com?

It’s the sister company of Vermont Teddy Bear.

Pajamagram.com sells pajamas wrapped up neatly in a beautiful and very creative gift boxes. They’re not exactly “gift baskets,” but a good example of taking the norm, adding a little creativity and having a unique gift for your customers.

The gift basket business gives you the opportunity to be artistic and creative while running a great business. One of the best aspects of a gift basket business is the satisfaction you get when you see a happy customer. Impressed with your talents.

Valuable skills/Requirements for starting a gift basket business

Your creativity will go a long way in the gift basket business, in addition to having a true artistic ability. However, developing your sales skills and networking skills will be just as essential as the creativity you put into your gift basket business.

Most of the more successful gift basket businesses sell around one-third of their baskets to other businesses. This is a profitable market and usually the orders will be of a higher total quantity. This means you can really do well with one large order of twenty baskets sold at one time.

For the most part, you can learn the basic techniques of creating your gift basket by reading some of the books I have listed below.

How much you can make

People in the gift basket business often make anywhere from $10,000 to up and around $100,000 per year as a full-time business.

Keep in mind your busiest season will be around the holidays and a large portion of your income will come between November and February.

The typical markup you’ll shoot for will be in the fifty percent range.

However, if you’re starting out buying the gifts you put in the basket at retail, you will end up with a smaller margin in the beginning in order to stay competitive.

But the more your business increases, the better pricing you’ll get by buying supplies in bulk.

Finally, in a survey conducted for Gift Basket Review magazine a few years ago, nearly 72 percent of gift basket companies responding to the survey reported annual sales of at least $50,000 and 23 percent said sales were over $100,000!

What You Need to Start up

You can easily get your gift basket business running for less than $200. You can buy some less expensive gifts at wholesale costs.

To get started on your first few baskets, you can buy basic wholesale gifts and foods at wholesale clubs. There are also supplier directories available online where you can buy many of your products on an as-need basis.

This kind of business are interesting in winter befor Christmas, and New Year
